The Company
UNI-DRAGON MINING & DEV. CORP. (hereinafter referred to for brevity as UNI-DRAGON) is a mining company duly registered and existing under the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. UNI-DRAGON was registered as a corporation with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 17 June 1998 (SEC Registration No. A 1998-07442)
UNI-DRAGON traces its beginnings way back in the 1970’s when DON PEDRO TRAJANO, the late father of UNI-DRAGON current Chairman &CEO, Mr. FRANCISCO S. TRAJANO, acquired some 522 hectares of mining claim areas located in the Municipality of Paracale, Province of Camarines Norte. Subsequently thereafter, DON PEDRO TRAJANO applied for and secured the Mining Lease Permits for the aforesaid 522 hectares. On 27 January 1972, therefore, LLA-V-12933 for 324 hectares, and LLA-V-12934 for 198 hectares were issued and granted to DON PEDRO TRAJANO. In 1973, DON PEDRO TRAJANO established a gold mining company, named INTER-GOLD MINING & DEVELOPMENT which started to develop, mine and operate the 522 hectares of mining claim areas covered by LLA-V-12933 and LLA-V-12934. After several years of operation, INTER-GOLD however had to cease its mining activitiesprimarily due to the unfavorable world market and economic conditions (such asthe drastic decrease in the price of gold to only an average of U.S. DOLLARS TWENTY PER TROY OUNCE (U.S. $20/troy ounce) which severely and fatally affected the viability of gold mining operations in the Philippines.
However, during the 1990’s the favorable improvement in the world market and economic conditions heralded the boom in the Mining Industry. Likewise, sometime in 1997, the then Bureau of Mines (later to be officially called Mines and Geosciences Bureau or MGB) issued a Directive requiring the conversion of all previously acquired mining rights into a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement or MPSA. Thus in 1997, Mr. FRANCISCO S. TRAJANO filed for the conversion of LLA-V-12933 and LLA-V-12934 which he inherited from his late father, DON PEDRO TRAJANO, into a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement or MPSA. Thus the MPSA application denominated as AMA -V-0190 was filed for the 522 hectares of mining claim areas in the Municipality of Paracale, Province of Camarines Norte.
But due to certain unforeseen events, the MGB later directed Mr. FRANCISCO S. TRAJANO to amend his original MPSA Application (AMA-V-0190). Consequently, Mr. FRANCISCO S. TRAJANO filed two (2) MPSA applications, namely APSA-000190-V and APSA -000278-V. Finally, the MPSA applications were approved in 2008; and MPSA No. 271-2008-V and MPSA No. 272-2008-V were signed by the Secretary of DENR.
Subsequently, UNI-DRAGON MINING & DEV. CORP. entered into a Mining Operating Agreement with Philippine Bao Tong Mining Corporation for the purpose of actively pursuing the actual mining operation within the two (2) mining claim areas.
Ultimately, UNI-DRAGON MINING & DEV. CORP. expanded its mining activities, by applying for Exploration Permits for the additional mining claims.
- EXPA-00084-V covering mining claim area of 1,233.5289 hectares located in Labo, Vinzons, Paracale, Camarines Norte, for mining of gold, copper, silver, and other minerals;
- EXPA-000138-V covering a mining claim area of 7,923 hectares located in Milagros, Masbate; for mining of manganese, iron, gold and copper, and other minerals;
- EXPA-00145-V covering a mining claim area of 9,307.2898 hectares located in Cataingan, Masbate; for mining of coal, copper, iron, chromite, and other minerals.
Geological Assessments of the Mining Claims
Inorder to confirm and fully assess the mineral potentials of the various mining claim areas and private lands of UNI-DRAGON MINING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, several consulting geologists and mining engineers were commissioned to undertake semi-detailed geological survey:
A. SAMUEL F. DE CLARO AND ASSOCIATE were commissioned to undertake the geological assessment of the following mining areas all situated in the Municipality of Paracale, Province of Camarines Norte:
1. the original mining claim areas covered by MPSA No. 271-2008-V consisting of two (2) blocks, namely the first block with an area of 125.1402 hectares more or less; the second block with an area of 64.2229 hectares more or less;
2. the original mining claim areas covered by MPSA No. 272-2008-V consisting also of two (2) blocks, namely the first block with an area of 198.5920 hectares more or less; the second block with an area of 6.7025 hectares more or less;
3. three (3) lots privately owned by UNI-DRAGON, and adjacent to the MPSA mining areas, with a total area of approximately 60 hectares more or less;
B. ANGEL A. BRAVO, a retired high ranking geologist of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), was afterwards commissioned to conduct a confirmatory geological survey of the mining areas covered by MPSA No. 271-2008 –V and MPSA No. 272-2008-V, as well as of the privately owned lands adjacent to the aforestated mining claim areas.
C. A third team of experienced geologists and mining engineers was likewise commissioned to conduct a reconnaissance geological survey of the mining claim areas in the Province of Masbate, covered by EXPA 000138, with an aggregate area of 7,923 hectares
D. The professional services of an American Company, NOAH’S ARK, headed by Mr. Milton Samuel Taylor, were contracted to undertake the surface and underground scanning of two (2) selected sites within the mining claim areas and private lands as well as of the Sunken Dredger of UNI-DRAGON MINING in the Municipality of Paracale, Province of Camarines Norte.
E. Lastly, another team of experienced geologists and mining engineers was also commissioned to conduct the geological survey of the mining areas under EXPA-000084-V (1,233.5289 Hectares) in the Municipalities of Paracale and Labo, Province of Camarines Norte.
F. Meanwhile, several groups of foreign Geologists and Mining Engineers who surveyed the mining areas and the surrounding vicinity, favorably reported the existence of gold veins, more specifically in the areas just behind the present mining headquarters of UNI-DRAGON in Paracale. This corroborated the past finding of another mining company called PLACER PACIFIC which had drilled three (3) step-out holes within the aforementioned areas and had reported gold content of 15 grams per MT Ore. Lastly, former mining engineers of UNITED PARAGON confirmed the existence of a network of mining tunnels dug by UNITED PARAGON, which horizontally extended towards the aforementioned areas. Thus, UNI-DRAGON wisely decided top purchase these aforementioned land areas. Lastly, several illegal individual miners had dug holes in the aforementioned areas; and had harvested gold illegally. This however, proves the viability of open pit mining in the aforementioned areas.
In summary, UNI-DRAGON has already purchased and acquired some 600 hectares within the vicinity of the areas confirmed to be positive for gold veins.
